Silly Season strikes again, Pierre Gasly has been officially demoted from Red Bull to Toro Rosso. As the summer break begins, so does Silly Season, but this time at Red Bull.

After a poor start to the season, Pierre Gasly will no longer be at Red Bull, instead he will swap with Alex Albon at Toro Rosso. Red Bull is notoriously cut throat with their drivers and after a series of events; spins, crashes and a lack of results, the team have taken the ultimate decision to replace the twenty three year old.
Just weeks before, Helmut Marko had stated, "There will be no mid-season changes." A strong statement considering the latest events. Christian Horner, Red Bull Team Principle, added to these statements, "We have no plans to replace Gasly." Horner made these comments just a week ago at the Hungarian Grand Prix, mere hours before Gasly crashed out a three laps before the chequered flag. Regardless, neither statement has aged well.

Although, this move could prove to be beneficial to the Frenchman as he will gain time to adjust and mature away from the microscope of a top team, and, after being promoted earlier than scheduled could this be exactly what Gasly needs, time away from the spotlight? Daniel Ricciardo's shock move to Renault last year sent Red Bull spiralling, Pierre Gasly was subsequently chosen to replace the smiling assassin, but was this just a few years too early?
Gasly will return to his debuting team, Toro Rosso, alongside Daniil Kvyat, a man who knows exactly how Pierre will be feeling after experiencing the Red Bull rollercoaster just three years ago.

Alex Albon has been promoted to Red Bull after completing just half a season in Formula 1. But after a fantastic season opener for the Thai-Brit will he be able to maintain his momentum at Red Bull? Or will it be another premature promotion?
