After losing his seat to Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz, Stoffel Vandoorne is seemingly out of a seat for the 2019 season. Although, he is looking to stay connected to Formula One as the next Ferrari development driver. After Daniil Kvyat, former development driver, has been linked to drive for Toro Rosso in the 2019 season. Reports are seeping out that Kvyat will be confirmed at the next race in Sochi.

Vandoorne has been part of the McLaren family since 2014 when he was signed as a reserve driver. He continued this role until 2016 where he took his Formula One debut, after Alonso's huge crash in Melbourne. After this, he went back to his reserve role until 2017 where he was signed as a full time driver in response to Jenson Button, 2009 World Champion's, retirement.

With this circulating, the rumours of him moving to Sauber become more and more unlikely, resulting in a question mark over Kimi Raikkonen's teammate next year at Sauber. However, one rumour is that Antonio Giovinazzi, who was the simulator driver for Ferrari, is in pole position to partner the Finn. Giovinazzi has already made his Formula One race debut in the 2017 season opener in Australia after replacing Pascal Wehrlein, who was suffering from previous injuries. But where does this leave Marcus Ericsson? Only time will tell...
